Faculty of Veterinarian Medicine
Faculty of Veterinarian Medicine was established in 1939 on the basis of the North Caucasian zootechnical institute. Education of veterinarian surgeons is carried out by highly-skilled personnel: 18 doctors of sciences, professors and 33 candidates of sciences, the senior lecturers. The quantity of the teachers having a scientific degree annually increases. For last 5 years 8 doctors’ and 43 masters’ theses have been protected. Faculty scientists carry out scientific researches on actual problems of veterinary science of the North Caucasian federal district. Priority directions are: 1. Working out of methods of diagnostics, struggle and preventive maintenance measures at barreness and a mastitis of ruminants, chronic infectious, parasitic and diseases of a noncontagious aetiology of animals and birds. 2. Morphofunctional mutual relations and immunogenesis in system «mother - child». 3. Studying of biocyclic processes and influence of ecological factors on morphofunctional indicators at pets.

На факультете созданы 4 научные школы: 4 scientific schools were created at faculty: - Parasitology (supervisors of studies are professor V.P. Tolokonnikov, A.A. Vodjanov, S.N. Lutsuk, V.A. Orobets). - Physiology (the supervisor of studies is professor F.A. Meshcherjakov). - Microbiology and epizootology (the supervisor of studies is professor A.F. Dmitriev). In 2009 there has been opened the Regional centre of veterinary medicine equipped with the newest equipment, providing possibility of effective treatment of animals and carrying out of scientific researches at high level. For research work on faculty chairs there is a modern labware.

There is protection candidate and theses for a doctor's degree works dissertational council. Work on improvement of professional skill of teachers of the higher school and experts with the higher and average vocational education is held. Scientists of faculty participate in work of the international, All-Russia and interuniversity conferences due to results of which collections of scientific works are issued, e.g. «Diagnostics, treatment and preventive maintenance of diseases of agricultural animals», «Actual problems of increase of efficiency and health protection of animals», «Parasitic, infectious and non-infectious animals».

Scientists and students of faculty accept active participation in work of the international exhibitions and salons. Development of professors V.P. Tolokonnikov, S.N. Lutsuk, A.F. Dmitriev, V.A. Orobets, S.A. Pozov. The native land, senior lecturers U.V. Djachenko, V.A. Beljaev, V.J. Morozov and the assistant I.V. Kireev received by gold, silver, bronze medals and diplomas on the Moscow international salons of high technologies, the Biotechnological exhibition-fair «RosBioTech» (Moscow) in 2004-

For the first time there was complex of biotechnological researches due to the efforts of faculty scientists together with leading experts of scientific research For the first time in veterinary practice it is offered to use as medical means composite preparations in liposomal form which application provides possibility of reception of cattle-breeding production of high sanitary quality, reductions of terms of treatment (for 3-5 days) and quantities of entered endometrial means from six-eight to one-two. Treatment-and-prophylactic efficiency of suppositories makes 92-98 %. New composite forms of antibacterial medical products are developed for treatment and preventive maintenance of gastro enteric illnesses of animals (authors are V.I. Trukhachev, V.P. Tolokonnikov, S.N. Lutsuk). The composite preparations application technology is fulfilled on the basis of complex use of antibiotics, antiprotozoan preparations, anthelminthic means providing high (95 %) efficiency of treatment-and-prophylactic actions for struggle with infectious and invasive illnesses of animals. On a basis of nano technologies for the first time it is created and established selenium-containing preparation «Extraselen» (authors are V.A. Orobets, V.A. Beljaev, I.V. Kireev). Extraselen is low-toxic also possesses high bioavailability. It is established, that increase of comprehensibility of selenium is reached for the account nanosized effect at simultaneous synergetic toxicity decrease for the account condition zero-valency. Preparation introduction in a therapeutic dose promotes normalisation of level of selenium in an organism of animals and activization of fermentative link antioxidant systems of protection of an organism at the expense of activity increase catalase, peroxidases, glutathione peroxidase and decrease in concentration of products peroxidase oxidations in blood. Application extraselena reduces frequency of development obstetrical pathologies, reduces service-period and frequency rate of insemination, raises a gain of live weight of young growth of large horned livestock.
Researches of professor A.F. Dmitriev on indication of microorganisms and a sanitary-microbiological estimation of the air environment of premises are original. Devices «Catcher of microorganisms» and «the Device for sanitary-bacterial research of air» are improved. The received results can be used by working out of sanitary-and-hygienic requirements and specifications on bacterial insemination air of premises. New technologies of preparation of biologically active preparations from by-products of beekeeping which are tested at invasive diseases of animals are offered: - cool-dehumidified biologically active preparation from preimaginal phases of drones (authors S.N. Lutsuk, V.P. Tolokonnikov, Y.V. Djachenko) and the fodder additive from larvae of drones (S.N. Lutsuk's authors, and. P. Marynich, O.A. Marynich), effective at treatment and preventive maintenance balantidiasis of pigs; - Spirit preparation for increase of resistance of an organism from подмора bees (authors S.N. Lutsuk, A.I. Drobina), intended for treatment of the large horned livestock sick with piroplasmosis. Preparations of this group are natural immune response modifier, raising stability of an organism to diseases of animals of a various aetiology, stimulate growth of muscular weight, кроветворение, increase efficiency and an issue, raise resistance of an organism. Scientists of faculty have developed 37 preparations for treatment and preventive maintenance of diseases of house and agricultural animals of a various aetiology. At faculty active research work is held. For last 6 years 34 patents for inventions, 2 copyright certificates have been received. Teachers of faculty published 14 monographies and 2 textbooks, 105 manuals, including 32 with signature stamp EMA of high schools of Integral part of a student's life is participation in amateur arts festivals, competitions and the festivals spent at university.
