Faculty of Plants Protection
The Faculty of Plants Protection was created on the basis of agronomical faculty in 1964. Its structure included the chemistry department founded in 1930, and botany department opened in 1948. During plants protection faculty formation process special departments were created: entomology department that was run by professor A.V. Bogachyov well known insects systematist; phytopathology department; civil defense department; ecology department the head of which was the honored worker of science of the Russian Federation N.A. Urazaev. In different years the faculty was run by: V.M. Gorjainov (1964-1966), E.I. Burdonov (1966-1968), A.N. Ivanov (1968 1977), G.R. Dorozhko (1977-1984), A.A. Gavrilov (1985-1999), E.A. Andreev (2000 - 2003), O.G. Shabaldas (2003-2007). Since 2008 the faculty is headed by the doctor of agricultural sciences, professor A.N. Esaulko.

TRAINING IS CARRIED OUT ON SPECIALITIES: 1. Protection of plants (110203.65). Qualification - the scientific agriculturist on protection of plants. Specialisations: quarantine of plants; biological protection of plants. 2. Wildlife management (020802.65). Qualification - the ecologist – user of nature. Specialisation: ecological examination. 3. Landscape gardening and landscape building (250203.65). Qualification - the engineer. Specialisation: landscape design. 4. Ecology and wildlife management (020800.62). Qualification - the bachelor of ecology and wildlife management. 5. Ecology and wildlife management (020800.68). Qualification - the master of ecology and wildlife management. 6. Nature protection arrangement of territories (280402.65). Qualification - the engineer - the ecologist.
The tuition is held by 30 teachers, including 6 doctors of sciences, professors and 22 candidates of sciences. At faculty on different specialities 417 persons, including 123 persons on a speciality 110203.65 - «Protection of plants», 109 - on a speciality 020802.65 - "Wildlife management", 148 - on a speciality 250203.65 - «Landscape gardening both landscape building» and 37 persons - in a direction 020800.62 - «Ecology and wildlife management» are trained. A number faculty staff was tutored for professional skills improvement in high schools of We also give students possibility to receive European education. It passes on the basis of a university educational experimental farm, and also our partners: the Ministries of Agriculture of Stavropol Territory, the Ministry of natural resources and preservation of the environment, the State centre of agrochemical service "Stavropol", Managements on technological supervision, on veterinary and phytosanitarian supervision, the Stavropol botanical garden, Teberdinsky state natural biosphere reserve, the design organizations, the regional agriculture enterprises and other organizations. Open lessons, round tables and seminars with participation of skilled experts in the field of plants protection, ecology and wildlife management, landscape design are held for students. Simultaneously many students get the second education, more often economic, judicial. Knowledge of market relations and legislative base are important help for the future production managers. Students of faculty take part in of research work. 6 student's circles work at departments. Annually, following the student's scientific organization work results, student's scientific conferences, Contests, others scientifically-methodical actions where students represent results of the researches are held. For special successes in study and research activity many children become nominal grant-aided students of the Russian agrarian movement, the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, the governor of Stavropol Territory, the head of Stavropol, the Academic council of university, non-governmental fund of V.I. Vernadsky and Vladimir Potanin's Welfare fund. Students of our faculty actively participate in cultural-mass life of university: festivals «Young talents» and «Student's spring», competitions «the Mr. of the University» and «Miss of University» and many other contests and competitions. In the Center of aesthetic education students are engaged in show ballet «Stylish features», DJ school, variety vocal branch and others. At faculty candidates for the master and the masters of sports are trained. Elvira Djanaeva, Victoria Nikolaenko, Julia Lidzhieva (volleyball), Olga Smirnova, Galina Panfilova, Maria Lavrinenko, (track and field athletics), Plaksina Tatyana (table tennis), Vilen Minasyan, Inna Markina (wrestling) Vyacheslav Levin (football) and others defend honour of faculty and university in sports competitions.
