Faculty of Electrification in Agriculture

The Faculty of Electrification in Agriculture was founded in 1974 due to the decision scientific council of university and in 2008 it was renamed to the Faculty of Electrical Energy. 90 % of the teaching staff has scientific degrees and ranks (6 doctors of sciences and 43 candidates of science). In 2007-2009 all leading teachers of the faculty passed professional retraining in high schools of Europe: the Czech agrarian university, University Hohenheim (Germany) and Folkkuniversitet (Sweden). Many students and post-graduate students have training abroad. During faculty existence it has been prepared more than 2500 experts who work not only in Stavropol Territory, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation.

Faculty formation is impossible without development of the scientific directions answering to agriculture inquiries. Considerable researches were spent:

– In respect of studying of electro physical influences on seeds;

– workings out of essentially new designs of linear operating electric motors;

– creations of new control devices and digital measuring converters and devices;

– designing various to destination devices of magnetic processing of water and seeds;

– creations original multi-functional protection frames of asynchronous electric motors;

– control system introductions by a light mode in green houses;

– studying of magnetic liquids properties;

– creations and introductions in manufacture of the automated control system by service of the rural electrician.

Employees and students of faculty have more than 200 copyright certificates and patents of the Russian Federation for inventions. Many scientific workings out have been successfully realized and introduced in agricultural production. Devices of magnetic processing of substances, portable digital hydrometers of seeds, the device of multipurpose protection of asynchronous engines have great demand in agrarian sector of economy of the South of Russia.

Now the faculty settles down in the separate educational building. It has 6 chairs where there are 30 educational scientific laboratories, including 3 computer classes, an office of course and degree designing, 3 lecture audiences equipped with the modern multimedia equipment. Besides abase speciality «Electrification and agriculture automation» the faculty prepare a Speciality "Electrical supply" and prepares bachelors and masters in directions "Agro engineering" and "Electrical Energetic".

At faculty perspective educational and research-and-production technologies are mastered. The high school victory in competition of innovative programs within the limits of realization of the priority national project "Education" has allowed to modernize completely research-and-production base of faculty and to improve qualitatively vocational training of experts. 7 laboratories, including unique laboratory on the automated systems of the commercial account of the electric power were created on the basis of department of automatics, electronics and metrology thanks to which preparation of Masters is carried out. Each laboratory is equipped by modern multimedia equipment, has the updated instrument base. Educational stands and equipment are interfaced to computers that allows to spend the agricultural objects electrification systems automated designing by means of license software products, to model difficult processes in electric power industry, to register indications of virtual devices

       

“Application of electric energy in agriculture” department (professor G.V. Nikitenko is the head of department) has modern complexes of the labware on the electric drive, electric devices, electrical engineer and electronics bases; systems of ignition, illumination, cars alarm system; independent system of heating, and also variety of stands-training apparatus.

Scientists develop essentially new linear operating electric motors, allowing to replace traditional electric motors with reducers. These devices are applied in metering devices of the concentrated forages on commercial diary farm, milking manipulators, as the electric drive of the manual tool. There are own software products introduced in manufacture and educational process, on 10 of them copyright certificates are received.

Faculty staff successfully work with suppliers of the electrotechnical equipment. For example, for charitable purposes of “Automatics, electronics and metrology” department (the professor I.G. Minaev is the head of the department) the electronic equipment of known Russian firm "Oven" (Moscow) has been put. It has grown out of negotiations according to the program of technical assistance to higher educational institutions. In 2007 during realization of the innovative program "Education" the modern microprocessor equipment thanks to which the electronic microprocessor hydrometer of seeds has been developed was bought at this firm. Search of technical decisions in agricultural crops sowing material quality definition proceeds due to bargain of modern equipment. The experimental model of such complex was developed. Results of researches of scientists in the long term will allow to increase productivity of agricultural crops by 15 %.

      

At Heating engineers, hydraulics and labor safety department the educational proving ground on nonconventional energy sources (senior lecturer V.V. Nefedov is the head of the department) was created. Here operating samples and updating of power installations are studied and developed for the independent isolated objects. So, by employees of high school conical solar energy concentrator was created, allowing to heat up the heat-carrier to 300–400 °С. This installation can be used all year long for heating and hot water supply of the remote agricultural enterprises, farms, etc. Rotor-type wind turbine is at an introduction in manufacture stage intended for energy safe of separate consumers at the expense of wind power. By experts’ estimations, the annual requirement for release of the given power installations only in Stavropol Territory accounts to more than 300 units.

The Theoretical bases electrical engineers department (senior lecturer I.N. Vorotnikov is the head of department) is equipped by the modern multimedia equipment both in computer classes, and in new laboratory “Theoretical bases electrical engineers”. Department staff continues to work on the scientific subjects of researches connected with working out and perfection of devices of protection of electric equipment from emergency operation. This direction is headed by Cand.Tech.Sci., senior lecturer I.K. Sharipov. A new direction of scientific research work are analog-digital researches of quality of the electric power in electric networks of agrarian and industrial complex.

Post-graduate students of the department (A.S. Galiguzov and D.A. Duginets) assist university departments on installation and adjustment of information systems, systems of security and fire safety. The educational scientific electrotechnical laboratory at Electrical supply and electric equipment operation department (senior lecturer V.G. Zhdanov is the head of department) is a base for objects electro safety technologies processing and attendants training. Here all complex of electrotechnical measurements which annually should be held at any enterprise is carried out.

The labor safety laboratory is the best in Stavropol Territory. It is equipped with modern stands about conductors isolation resistance measurement, electricity generating plant grounding research, rooms microclimate factors definition and dangerous influences on biological objects. Unique robots-training apparatus allow to carry out training to clinical death signs definition skills, techniques of pre-cardial blow, indirect massage of heart, artificial ventilation of lungs with conclusion and analysis of all parameters to the personal computer. More than 500 heads and experts of agriculture, engineers pass retraining on a labor safety on the basis of laboratory annually.

More than 200 contracts were signed with the enterprises and the organizations for practical training of students and about creative cooperation. Edge leading enterprises became strategic partners of faculty in variety of directions: "Power measure" join stock trust, “Stavropol electromechanical factory”, municipally unitary enterprise "Gorkelektroset",  “Stavropolenergo” join stock which is the branch of “Western electric networks”. Students take active part in scientific work, are coauthors of publications and scientific workings out who were highly appreciated at the All-Russia and regional competitions. The student of the 5 course M. Mastepanenko became the winner of the All-Russia competition for the best student's scientific work on theme “Working out of the universal information-measuring monitoring system of di-electrical and current-carrying liquids level” in a direction “Agroengineering” in 2010. Research work at physics department (professor G.P. Starodubtseva is the head of department) started from the moment of the organization in 1999 of accredited educational scientific test laboratory (UNIL) . Doctor of agricultural sciences, professor G.P. Starodubtseva is a head of “Interaction of electromagnetic fields with biological objects” scientific school. Department staff, post-graduate students and students hold scientific researches, theoretical workings out on influence of pulse electric field and extremely high frequencies on sowing qualities of seeds.

      

Technology of electro physical influence on biological objects, i.e. electromagnetic, ozonization, influence by pulse fields of high frequency, field application of the main category are offered for pest control, agricultural cultures productivity increase, water quality improvements. On the scientific researches results basis in UNIL one doctor's and 8 master's theses were protected. Department staff continues purposeful perfection of educational methodical bases. The educational methodical complex of "Physicist" for engineering specialities (the author is senior lecturer V.I. Krahotkin) in 2007 has occupied I place in a nomination Educational methodical complex on disciplines of cycle of general mathematical and natural scientific subjects”. The modern material base of faculty has allowed to rise to a new innovative level of scientific researches, to raise competitiveness of workings out, to sign state contracts with the Ministries of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and North Caucasus and economic agreements with agricultural productions of Southern and North Caucasian federal districts.

The newest equipment gives chance for faculty staff to held correcting of research works according to the Russian Federation science development priority directions list. Now there is a realization of 6 grants under the program “Participant of youth scientific information contest” and 3 grants under the program "START". Teachers and students annually participate in all cultural mass and sports faculty and high school activities. Since 1999 the command of KVN of electro power faculty have been the winner or the prize-winner in university league of KVN. Since 2001 a faculty national team, participating in contest between the staff, constantly occupies prize-winning places.

The increasing demand for engineering specialities that is proved by competition among entrants, grants the right not to doubt the faculty future.
